So, you have thought about your life — where you are right now and where you would like to be. Perhaps, there is something that needs some adjustment, maybe even some improvement. You would like to development your character. No doubt, setting and working towards a goal will play a part in your success. Read on for some other helpful suggestions to grow as a person.

Try to learn how to breathe right. You need to be able to concentrate on your breathing, especially if you are stressed or in pain. When things get intense, try to avoid taking quick breaths that make you dizzy and want to pass out. Instead try to breathe more slowly and deeply. You can feel much more in control of your anxiety and pain to prevent making things worse.

When you are trying to better yourself, set a deadline. Decide how long you will need to make up your mind and stick to that time-frame. How much time do you need to reflect and gather information? When you decide, set your deadline and tell your self that you are ready to live a better life.

Take time to think about what you want from life. Too often we get rushed into a path that we are really not interested in taking. For some people this might involve a parent pushing them into the family business. For others it might be peer pressure to drop out of school. Only you know what you really want.

Talk loudly and clearly to yourself in your car. While you are driving, practice pronouncing difficult-to-say words or words from that foreign language you have always wanted to learn. You aren’t likely to be as intimidated in enunciating the words because no one will be listening! Practice makes perfect!

Write a pep talk about yourself. On a postcard, write down all of your best qualities. Carry it with you, and refer to it when necessary. Better yet, read the list out loud while recording yourself. Are you wondering why you should do this?

Walking is great exercise and a healthy way to reflect and let things out in prayer and thought. It is also very healthy for you, physically. While you are reducing stress, you are also treating your body right. Try walking sometime, and see just how beneficial it is to your psyche.

Volunteer for that job no one else wants to do. Volunteering can open up your relationships with others. It can help you acquire knowledge and skills that might one day prove invaluable. Just because your co-workers don’t want to take on a job doesn’t mean you should automatically rule it out!

Now, you have some suggestions in mind — apply the advice that best suits your own circumstances. Give it some time! Set a goal and work towards it! Perhaps, the adjustment or improvement, you would like to make has been a part of your character for a long time. Be reasonable. Work hard to grow as a person!
